No more than 15 nominees per category are allowed.

  • Outstanding Original Character: Any character was completely made up by the author OR had a minor role in the series and was well-developed in the story by the author. Can be a villain or a hero or other. Can be either set in canon or fantasy/all human.
  • Best Buffy Characterization: For stories that do a great job with the characterization of Buffy.
  • Best Spike Characterization: For stories that do a great job with the characterization of Spike.
  • Best Short Story: One-shot, no chapter stories.
  • General Excellent Author: Best writing for Spuffy stories that either work within canon or create an alternate universe. Must have written 3 or more stories and can only be individual authors. No collaboratives, please. Must have at least one General story nominated to qualify for this category.
  • Fantasy Excellent Author: Best writing for fantasy/all-human Spuffy stories. Must have written 3 or more stories and can only be individual authors. No collaboratives, please. Must have at least one Fantasy story nominated to qualify for this category.
  • Most Original Plot: Stories with unique and intriguing plot lines. Not based on books, movies, or other. Can be either set in canon, alternate universe, or fantasy/all human.
  • Best General Long Fiction: Any story with vampires, slayers, witches, demons, etc. It can be based on canon or work outside of it. It must not be more than 10 chapters long. Stories must be completed works. No WIPs.
  • Best Fantasy Long Fiction: Fantasy/all-human stories no more than 10 chapters long. Stories must be completed works. No WIPs.
  • Best General Saga: Canon or alternate universe (must have either vampires, slayers, demons, etc) stories with 11 chapters or more. WIPs with more than 11 chapters are welcome. Series (works with multiple stories) must be nominated as individual stories.
  • Best Fantasy Saga: Fantasy/all-human stories with 11 chapters or more. WIPs with more than 11 chapters are welcome. Series (works with multiple stories) must be nominated as individual stories.
  • Best General Angst: Sad, emotionally draining, and/or dark stories set in canon or an alternate universe (must have either vampires, slayers, demons, etc). May contain major character death.
  • Best Fantasy Angst: Sad, emotionally draining, and/or dark stories set in a fantasy/all human world. May contain major character death.
  • Best General 'We Missed the Bed, Again': Must be rated NC-17 and contain hot, smutty Spuffy scenes. Must be set either in canon or an alternate universe that has vampires, slayers, and/or demons, etc.
  • Best Fantasy 'We Missed the Bed, Again': Must be rated NC-17 and contain hot, smutty Spuffy scenes. All human stories only.
  • Best General Romance: Canon-based or alternate universe stories that focus around the romantic relationship between Spike and Buffy.
  • Best Fantasy Romance: Fantasy/all human stories that focus around the romantic development of Spike and Buffy's relationship.
  • Best Fluffy Spuffy: Fics that are sweet, light-hearted, and/or funny. Can be either set in canon, alternate universe, or fantasy/all human.
